Skipper Salifu Krubally wins the player of the week prize

Captain Salifu Krubally won the Player of the week award

Real de Banjul skipper Salifu Krubally has been named the club's player of the week following his heroic performance when the 'City Boys' registered their first win of the season against Tallinding United on Sunday.

The no-nonsense defender showed his leadership qualities against Tallinding, winning the aerial duels plus proving a threat in the opponents area.

The Scorpions defender who replaced former keeper Alagie Nyabally as club captain this season thanked his teammates for helping him to win the prize.

"I have to thank my teammates, the coaching staff and everyone at the club for the trust and believe they showed in me over the years". Krubally said.

"This prize serves as extra motivation to me and my teammates to work even harder knowing our efforts would be recognized". Added the captain.

The 12 time Gambian league champions secured a 2-1 win over Tallinding United with goals on either half from Babou Cham and Alassana Jatta whiles Sulayman Manneh's 95 minute strike was only enough for a consolation.

Head coach Majorr Saine who presented the prize to his captain was full of praise for his squad after they returned to winning ways over the weekend.

"After a difficult and successful preseason in Senegal the boys have recovered well against Tallinding after we lost our opener against Marimoo the week before". Said Saine

"Salifu was instrumental in lifting the spirits of the players after the Marimoo game and last week in training thus earning the deserved win against Tallinding on Sunday".

Real will be back in action on Monday 4 December against Steve Biko at the Independence Stadium at 1600 GMT.

Majorr to debut against Marimoo

Real de Banjul squad that clinch the St Louis tourney

Real de Banjul manager Majorr Saine will be making his competitive debut as coach of the club when the City Boys open their league account against Manjai based Marimoo on Saturday 18 November at the Independence Stadium.

The former assistant will head into Saturday's league opener on the back of winning the St Louis invitational tournament last weekend. That triumph was preceded by a solid performance in Ziguinchor in which Real finished fourth.

Marimoo finished above Real last season in second despite collecting just a point in the two meetings one of which Real ran out comfortable winners in Banjul before drawing in Manjai.

Majorr has a new look side following the transfers of Bully Drammeh, Arona Jabang, Adama Sabally, Bubacarr Sonko, Cherno Jobe, Alieu Jallow and last seasons leading scorer Yankuba Jarju. Former captain and goalkeeper Alagie Nyabally is also among the players on the move.

Abdoulie Bah, Alieu Fadera, Ebrima Jatta and John Gomez are among the new recruits for Real who will look to start the season on high.

Club captain Salifu Krubally is optimistic that the new side can achieve its targets for the season.

"We have a new look side which is made of young and talented players but we're confident that we can achieve our targets for the season". Said Krubally.

The match will be played at the home of Gambian football, the Independence Stadium with kick off scheduled for 16:00 GMT. We will have full match text commentary on our Twitter and Facebook handles.
