Amat Cham appointed Real de Banjul Head Coach

Amat Cham is new Real de Banjul Head CoachReal de Banjul Football is pleased to confirm that Alhaji Amat Cham has been appointed as the club’s new Head Coach on a two-year contract.

Cham, 40, replaces Mattar M’Boge who left the club by mutual agreement at the end of the 2013/2014 season.

Amat has already taken charge of the team, collecting 3 points in the club’s opening league fixture against Gambia Ports Authority on Tuesday. He oversaw the Super Cup final win against Banjul United on Saturday.

The former Kara Silo head coach was the man who steered Young Africans’ promotion to the first division in the 2010 league season and was selected as a member in the selection of the Gambia U17, in the same year.

He graduated with a Diploma in Physical Education from the Leipzig University and coached German club TV Möglingen for two years (2012-2014) before his recent return to the country.

Cham told www.realdebanjul.gm: “I am proud to be Head Coach of Real de Banjul. The Club is a winning team and the best in the country, I and my technical staff will do our best to take it forward and maintain the top quality it has developed.”

“I would like to thank the Executive for the trust and confidence they have shown in me by giving me the job.”

Cham, a former Secretary General of the Gambia football coaches association, is a CAF C license holder and a local CAF instructor.

Cham’s backroom staff would include Tijan Nulla as assistant coach, Saihou Manjang as trainer, Abdoulie Njie as goalkeeper trainer and Alasan Mboob and Ousman Senghore as physios. The team would be managed by Ebrima Camara.
