Buba Sanneh signs for AC HorsensReal de Banjul Football Club can confirm that defender Bubacarr Sanneh has joined Danish club AC Horsens in a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old centre back concludes a five-year spell with the City Boys, during which he has served as captain of the Club, guiding it to two league successes and a Super Cup title during his stay.

He initially joined Horsens on loan in September 2014 and has currently raked in nine league appearances with three goals to his name.

The Danish club had the first option to sign Sanneh after a loan agreement with them and the club has now exercised that option by signing the Gambian on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

President William Abraham said of his transfer: “I am happy that we’ve been able to sort out Buba’s future before the summer. We all know he was there on loan and Horsens had an option which they made use of, we can only thank them and wish Buba all the best in his professional career.”

Buba, who played predominantly as a central defender for Real de Banjul, was also an able deputy in midfield when required. He demonstrated his offensive qualities when he scored the club’s winning goal against Gamtel FC in the 2013 Super Cup final.

His coach at Horsens, Bo Henriksen, commented: “Bubacarr has really got his breakthrough in our defense this season, and with several strong performances, Bubacarr has been an important player for our team. He possesses the values we value highly in AC Horsens about humility, hard work, and unity, so we are pleased that we have been able to make a long contract with him.”

Sanneh, who has represented the Gambia U20, U23, and senior national team on various occasions, possesses good ball control qualities, is powerful in the air, and possesses good leadership qualities.

He told www.realdebanjul.gm: “I am happy with the move and want to thank my club, Real de Banjul, for helping me through it. I want to thank everyone at the club particularly Mr. Willie, for the support he has given me. The coaches at the club also did a good job on me and many thanks to them. I want to thank my [former] teammates also for the great time I’ve had with them and I am praying that they also become professionals soon.”

Everyone at Real de Banjul would like to thank Bubacarr for his contribution to the Club and wish him the best of luck for the future.
