Real dump Casa to set up GPA date

A spirited second half performance inspired Real de Banjul to a hard fought 2-2 draw against Casa Sports on Thursday night to set up a semi-final meeting with the Gambia Ports Authority.

The "Whites" started the game on a bright note creating the first chance after 5 minutes when Wally Fofana wriggled through the Casa midfield to set up Omar Jah whose left footed effort crashed off the post.

But it was the host (Casa) who scored first in the eleventh minute when they punished Wally's misplaced pass in midfield. Real continued to push for the equaliser but a combination of poor finishing and heroic defending meant Casa went into the break leading by a solitary goal.

An inspiring half time team talk coupled with the introduction of two young forwards in Alieu Fadera and Alieu Jallow lifted the energy levels of Real de Banjul to start the comeback.

Muhamed Sanneh and Fadera combined on the right channel to forced Lamine Ndiaye to tap into his own goal to level the score.

Alasana Jatta latched onto a clever Ebou Sanyang through ball but could only fire straight at the keeper much to relief of the home faithful.

Alieu Fadera found himself unmarked in midfield following a first time pass by Modou Lamin Sallah and the new recruit controlled inside the area before hitting the roof of the net with a deaf right footed stunner.

Casa went on the other side to drew well with another stunner but Ebou Sanyang and Foday Manneh both missed goal scoring chances in the last minutes.

The means Real finishes second behind Jaraaf who strolled to a comfortable 5-0 victory over Mepa of Guinea Bissau and will now face GPA whiles Jaraaf take on Ndiambour in the second semi final on Saturday 4th  November at the Stade Aline Sitoe Diatta.
