Ebrima Cham joins Kalju

Real de Banjul Football Club will like to announce that our captain Ebrima Cham alias S.I, has left us to join Estonian Meistriliiga [top tier] side JK Nõmme Kalju.

Ebrima Cham, 20, left The Gambia to join compatriot Yankuba “Mal” Ceesay at the Estonian Meistriliiga side by signing a four-year contract.

Gambia international Yankuba “Mal” Ceesay is the first Gambian to be plying his trade in Estonia and he was very happy to welcome his country-mate. “He is one of the best local players you can get, he has talent, and coming to Estonia, it will be a good place for him to start and I am happy he’s joined me,” he said.

“There are many scouts coming to watch our [Estonian] league and the clubs also play the UEFA Champions and Europa League qualifiers, he has ambition to move to a stronger league and I think with time, he will. It’s only a matter of time,” Mal said of our captain.

We have learnt that our captain will be with the reserve team in order to gain experience in his first month at the club and will later be promoted to the senior team. He is issued the club’s number 17 jersey.

Real de Banjul will like to congratulate SI, wish him success in his new club and pray for him to have a successful playing career in Europe.
